Birds taught me more about history than school
Same, especially because birds are my main interest. When I was in school I found that the main issue is that they stick you to a schedule and prevent you from exploring on your own(particularly in elementary school). 1 period of science, 1 period of history, 1 period language, etc. When I get interested in something I stick to it, I can't constantly change from one boring subject to another. If you explore on your own eventually everything links up.
For example studying birds lead to an interest in animal behaviour, which lead to an interest in human psychology. Of course I learned about the anatomy of birds, compared it to other animals(including humans) and I learned about their evolutionary history comparing anatomy in that context. This lead to an interest in theropods/dinoaurs(what birds evolved from) and other prehistoric life. Then I learned that the end permian extinction event is the most significant extinction that ever happened on earth and we don't know what caused it. I wanted to learn more which resulted in learning about geology, which leads to chemistry which can lead to physics and math...It just keeps going.
I pretty much dropped out of school by age 10, despite that I've learned about all of these subjects through my own exploration.
That is, unfortunately, common in America. Say, have you ever heard of the Great War channel? Everyone should learn about WW1. It's the War that shaped the world we know today. Ever wonder why the middle East is such a mess? That channel will teach you why.

Not to mention the driving factor of innovation is and has always been war, not economy.

If you genuinely believe something is wrong, don’t just throw out words. Explain your arguments and reason them out well. If you can do that it becomes much harder to break your arguments.

Bill Gates/Kurzgesagt's argument, both obsequious and disingenuous. Why is the US not (really) building the infrastructure of developing countries up to the developed world standard? That's what Bill Gates wants you to think, that he, and Americans in general, and somehow "lifting all ships." Rich people DO NOT want to build infrastructure in the developing world, which would challenge their self-appointed right to total domination of all raw resources? China's belt and road project might just accomplish what this video talks about, but is the US assisting this project? No, of course not, because they don't give a fuck about equable use of resources, or infrastructure in developing countries. The goal of the US is to control as much of the worlds resources as possible. The US also can't allow any non-Anglo saxon race to overtake them economically, no matter what the cost to the global poor. IF the US wanted, they could have built infrastructure in the middle east. But they only invaded for a slice of the oil pie, or to make sure no other oil producers can compete with them (Iran). What have the US built in Afghanistan, in 20 years? Not one hospital, where is the "George Bush" hospital, the "Dick Cheney" high school, where is the Collin Powell highway? Ask any Afghan, the invaders haven't done shit, and the only reason they are there is to block their rivals in Eurasia from cooperating. How does this advance "positive sum" development?

So, I would suggest that just the way we grow up into a better world, we should also educate people of better human ethics and morality...coz you know...not all humans in this world have a stable and positive set of mind. A lot of them have wobbling and unpredictable mindset, which in the long run, is an uncertainty. That's bcz what if they decide to use their better knowledge for the worsening of this world ?
