I make Ice in the desert using an ancient technique that uses potassium nitrate's high heat of solubility. Cody: "I'm making potassium nitrate from my own piss."
Me: "Oh I guess he's making gunpowder."
Cody: "NOW I CAN MAKE ICE!!"
FBI: We got a tip about a man who made a ton of saltpeter, possible terrorist threat, sending agents to investigate-
Cody: I'm making an ice bath in the desert!
FBI: Ignore that order, it's just Cody.
@LordDragox412😂
@LordDragox412 Cody is in a very shortlist of ppl to kidnap and put in a bunker if the world goes to shit, for sure
Cody gets a call from the FBI... Cody: I can explain, wait until my next video.
Or as they say in Maine, Wicked Pissah!
I've been flushing mine like an idiot.
Waste not, want not. Wife: what are those evil smelling barrels in the backyard? Me: oh, just nothing but some future iced tea.
I can share my bottles with you.
Nevada man admitted to hospital with hypothermia during 100+f heatwave, authorities say they are baffled, lol.
insert photo of Cody wrapped in multiple layers of metal foil, baffling him from the heat
Nevada man with no electricity
Someone actually died of hypothermia in a small town on the fringes of the Sahara desert in northern Nigeria in the middle of summer back in the 80s. On an unbearably hot day during ramadan when they were fasting, they tried to cool themselves by placing blocks of ice underneath thier pillow. They fell asleep and died of hypothermia. It was so bizzare that it was a topic of conversation for months afterwards.
Presenting to the emergency room ...
@nrml76 Oh that is tragic. They would probably have been fine if they'd have placed the ice elsewhere, too. Poor fuck.
appreciate the temps in celsius
101 Celsius is pretty hot for the desert
Not sure how he did that. We don't even have Celsius here; in America, it only temperatures in Fahrenheit. 😁
He's a scientist, of course he uses cesius except at the beginning of the video
@specialopsdaveHe knows both, and somehow his brain didn't explode.
@OregonEyesedKhaOsjust because you are from illiteracy land kansas doesnt mean that its actually hard to convert them, at very least on a functional level.
Remember what you thought nitrate was for? Instead, he was using his urine nitrate to get a refreshing drink of water in the desert!
So he can pee it out and make some more nitrate to make the gunpowder. 4 d chess
So when someone says "Piss off!", Do not fret it. And go have a cold drink!
bot
It's almost like Bear Grylls with extra steps!
I see woman in thumbnail, I report.
making ice in a refrigerator costs to much power... proceeds to refine 450 gallons of urine to make enough nitrate to freeze a icee pop... very cool :)
Bare in mind that the system is renewable and runs on solar energy.
And how much water is now unusable bc it's full of nitrates? A very resource intensive glass of iced tea in the desert lol
@xybergay8587 well the water vaporizes. so if you have a way to do it with non-drinking water to cool drinking water. this assumes you can get water in the desert.
Man we left the piss chemistry in middle school.
@xitro20xx Cody could even make a closed-loop RT evaporation trap to collect the water and hell, maybe use the ice he made to help condense into a water trap
Cody is such a rock of the YouTube community. He's so OG and has stayed so true to his style
And he is still so damn entertaining, even with my nerfed attention span i can watch it fully without skipping, every single one of his video. And that's impressive! Magical even. Because it's not the content, it's something else.
This piss-cooled water was brought to you by Ground Nord Saily Scottish Honey Delete Shadow News Titles Me Legends VPN!
Piss cooled water, this is Oxygen not included in a nutshell.
The unexpected ONI ref made me smile!
@VAXHeadroom I'd imagine there is significant overlap between the ONI and Cody'sLab community
@kenlavinlol Brothgar felt like falling off the map and that whole bunch came over here lol
I'm playing right now as I m watching the video.
i hope he wiped the lid off :|
"Hi! Do you want a ice tea?"
"Yes, please."
"Okay, hang on a sec."
Mein gott he is dressed like a wizard and now he's doing magics
Shovel Mage
*alchemy
He has always been doing magics
Das ist gewaltig! How crazy i that
@tabryis *taboo
There's a man in the desert who makes popsicles from pee!
*using pee
You have to suck it out
Peesicles!... I'll see myself out.
The jars singing in the bucket as he is stirring really adds to the mystique
right?
Cody: wants to show off his survival skills and chemistry knowledge, invents musical instrument Jarsinabucket.
It's a cool sound effect technique for synth type sounds
anti-cooking the salt stew
I had almost forgotten what watching YouTube was actually supposed to be like.
I’m currently making about a dollar per thousand views. How long do you think us genuine creators who don’t promote scams can keep going?
@theCodyReederyou know man, I'm just gonna quote some frank zappa. Not because of his music, but because he was smart. "We're only in it for the money." So find a way to incorporate some AI to boost views and get some sponsorship. Do AI chemistry, is it safe? Lol...or something.
@theCodyReeder It might seem strange, but I think with the massive flood of disingenuous content that fills the mainstream, genuine creators might become an oasis for everyone who gets sick of the overstimulation.
@theCodyReeder Dear Cody, the only way to 'virally' succeed these days is if you are aligned with the Epstein class narrative. Successful influences are a form of propaganda that is used to control the masses. If you stray away from the narrative or expose the captured minions your reach gets cut back and the big platforms are a waste of time after that.
The only way to win at this game is to have an alternate funding model where the advertiser is the product and not the user and the Epstein class are not allowed to steal from the middle.
Create platforms (invite competent coders) to make video, substack, mastodon, facebook, Codidact systems that are funded with advertising BUT where advertisers pay the users and not the middle man. The users rate every advert and the worst ones are cancelled automatically. Worst means the USERS do not want them because they are scam, cringe, antisocial, false, bait & switch, exploitative, anti repair, anti family, divisive, partisan etc. Any user who wants to pay can avoid all adverts. Other users see wholesome adverts only, the bleeding edge or poor users who are able and willing to rate the adverts get paid revenue from the advertisers.
Basically until the users are in control of the algorithm things will simply keet getting WORSE AND WORSE, FOR EVER.
If all these crowd owned, open source platforms syndicated the advertisers and advert scores the advertisers would have to make honest and pro-consumer products and adverts before the consumer would see them.
I look forward to you teaming up with Louis Rossmann or FUTO or EFF or whoever is prepared to support a USER OWNED platform that uses USER RULES to determine what ADVERTISEMENTS are shown and where the USERS profit from the advertisers and not the middle men who will be mostly volunteers and OS coders. Use of AI should be limited as it is resource wasteful and hard to vet and choice of platform might leave video last due to real world cost of storage and bandwidth. However it may be possible to build this system on top of other hosting sites and use this as a filter if other adverts do not leak in. The advertising must first pay for all hosting and legal cost but the rest should go to users that rate the adverts and ADVERTISERS. Also content creators can get similarly rated so that propaganda does not start to infiltrate.
@SamuelPrince-w1yI don't disagree at all. However, that doesn't stop the cash from flowing. Everything is an overstimulation these days. Human beings don't evolve over night just because they have a super computer in their hands. The majority uses this amazing technology for nothing more than an ego boost and to compare their junk online. "Grab all you can, while you can." -Wuntzler.
Old Ben Kenobi?
That wizards just a crazy old man.
Well of course I do. He's me!
Cody Don Kenobi? When you have problems on the moisture farm, he's the wizard you seek...
"Ben is a GREAT man."
"Yeah, great at getting us into trouble..."

Me: "I wonder if..." Girlfriend: "whatcha watching"? Me: "remember the boiling pee video? The pee can make ice". Girlfriend: "what's wrong with you"?
What she meant to say is “wow, men are amazing, they can create civilisation out of the dirt so I can live safely in this post industrial age. I love that you know how to do these things honey…”
@____________________________.xI watch guys boil pee on YouTube. My girlfriend is completely imaginary.
@____________________________.x im sure you've never done anything of the sort for even yourself, much less anybody else. if you were a man capable of doing things you probably wouldnt talk the way you do.
@deckeloddity Chill kid, the White Knight conference is over there. All the cheetos you can eat
@____________________________.x ick
The stirring stick looks suspiciously like the piss stick in the last video
🤫
Well, it's stirring the same chemicals.
Thinking to myself that this is a reassurance post to remind the government of non destructive uses for this particular chemical
Remember, the niter can be reconstituted by evaporation.
@m@m1kem477hewzOf course, and to counter questions about using other crystalline elements. well—piss. Its piss it was refined from piss. Readily available even out in the desert, as long as you have the source for it 😂
@m1kem477hewz i think they meant usage of niter that's not kaboom
@Kinnikinnick its mainly used in fertilizer already
It's largely a restricted substance these days thanks to our MEast friends and I suppose to too many wacky utoobers demonstring kanooms couple decades ago.
Full Desert Alchemist
Full Desert alchemist! :D
Full. Desert. Alchemist. >:(
I'm nearly 50 and have been doing things and using tools my whole life, but I don't think I've ever used up a shovel. I'm impressed.
it gets used up pretty quickly in thermite :D
Dragon Poop is pretty harsh on the shovel.
@jonaspavelek1333 That's fair. Special use case. 🙂
Not that difficult if you buy it from harbor freight 🤣
Desert "soil" is brutal.
Have you considered making ice blocks in winter and digging a deep hole to see how long you can keep ice stored that way? They used to use hay and other materials for insulation.
I think sawdust was one of the materials used in packing ice houses.
I've also heard of wood ash being a pretty good insulator; Dad told me how he'd been assigned to clean out the ash pit one summer, and he found snow, still frozen, under the ashes from the wood stove that they kept going all winter. That was in upstate New York.
I'm glad Cody uses his powers for good.
Absolutely 😂
This entire video feels like a threat...
He is pretty much just showing off centuries-old technology that has fallen into disuse, as it is so inefficient. That doesn't make it any less interesting though. And it's sad how much we have forgotten. At least this particular technique is still occasionally taught in middle schools. It's awesome so see several full-length videos showing just how difficult the process was.
@gutschke No. We are not doing the "Wisdom of the ancients" thing here.
That crap is for crazy people and conspiracy theorists.
This is not a "Hundreds of years old" technique. (The unglazed jar part is but the nitrate part is not)
@gutschke
What counts as efficiency is in relation to your goals
21:41 I smiled too
Remember what y'all thought the nitrate was for? Instead, he was using his urine nitrate for a refreshing chug of water in the desert!
I mean.. What a man does on his ranch with 20lbs of fertilizer is between him and God.
A week's worth of pee for a chug of water. I hate those sorts of decisions... 🤔
I would have made bacon, just to gross everyone out.
@tibimarin in Utah, God is big business, y'all worried about the feds, but I'll bet Cody's had more visits from baby faced "elders" than the swamp peoples
He used the piss to make the piss.
21:20 Cody Heisenberg bringing ice to a desert near you
20:43 — hours of work to make a few cubes of ice and he just stirs hard enough to throw one away accidentally
IKR? I died a little bit when I saw that
I had a good chuckle at that 😆. All the work that went into the potassium nitrate, all the water, 4 stages, then... flick half of it's gone.
I do appreciate doing the temps in celcius as well.
I pulled into traffic from the side of the road to watch this.
I’m typing this while driving at 80mph and have not crashed ye
As is tradition.
I ran through a school zone at 90mph so I could watch this
Doc Brown would have been proud.
The Desert Shaman of Chicken Hole approaches to teach us the magicks of saltpeter
Good to see a young fella respecting the old ways.
my man spent all night to make some iced tea to drink in the morning... and then probably went immediately to sleep
I went to sleep at normal time and then woke up at 4 am.
@theCodyReeder that makes a lot more sense than what i said lol
@theCodyReeder - Wait, but 4 a.m. is the normal time to go to sleep. 🤨
@theCodyReederto wake up at 4 u dont go to sleep at a normal time
@shredyoutubeworkersandceos normal is relative, if you went to bed when the sun went down( by 9 pm in the summer) you probably would end up waking up at 4/5 am.
In case Big Ice gets to Cody, Cody is not feeling suicidal.
Definitely a drink reserved for kings
would love to see this in a cellar situation where it's already much cooler.
He has become Merlin.
3:35 everything i needed to know about this guy is right there
Our favorite wizard is back
8:05 Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and caldron bubble
I remember old chemistry textbooks describing freezing mixtures. Life is much easier for modern chemists.
The repisserator.
The iced tea reminded me of Back to the Future 3.
Likewise. A giant machine all to produce a single brown ice cube.
I think Doc Brown might've been way overthinking it. Doc built an entire Rube Goldberg refrigerator when all Cody needed was glass jars, a barrel, and terracotta...and of course some KN03 from boiled urine. Still, I think Cody wins here. Plus, I remember Doc's ice cube looking disgusting while Cody's looked clean.
@matthewclark5668 I'm sure the ice cube was dirty just to make it seem all the more silly.
@MelindaGreen Or it was brown because they didn't have a source of drinking water that was all that clean either. When Marty sits down for dinner with Seamus and family, he gets a similarly brown glass of water.
You would've had the best old West saloon
the DESERT WIZARD
This is the most American thing ever. Our obsession with ice cold beverages and frozen sweet treats is unsurpassed. Thomas Jefferson would be proud.
Only he can turn pee into iced tea.
