After watching this I'm even more confused about what a paradox is
Mood
@Samer Ktheya Google/Wikipedia sagt "Antinomie". At least for the word "Antinomy" 🤷♂️
I think everything of those has a German word, even if it's nearly identical.
A paradox is a paradox for infinity
Congrats that means you learned something
"I am lying"
Hi, lying I'm Dad
Why did you name me this way?
Asdf movie reference!
@john bailey you don't wanna know how many times i've seen "Asdf movie reference" in a comments section
Hi dad, I'm falsidical
thats not funny
If everything is possible, is it possible for something to be impossible? (Anatinomy)
@Toast jelly God is real. But none of religions imagine them correctly. In other words:
science holds answer to question: "how" While God is an answer to question "why".
how can it be impossible if impossible doesn't exist..?
But if everything is impossible, it wouldn't be possible for the impossible to exist.
If it’s possible for something to be impossible, then its impossible for everything to possible.
If god is omnipotent he can lift any weight. If god is omnipotent, he can design a weight that even he can’t lift.
The restaurant owner said “the customer is always right” and then the customer says “no we’re not”
I’d say that a better example is “This statement is a lie”
Edit: I commented this before watching the entire video and I feel like a genius
@{ Bruxinth } that statement is often made without much thought. There are always limitations on what a business owner will tolerate from customers. As a taxi driver, I know that sometimes the customer is dead wrong, and needs to get on out.
just cuz he isnt always right doesnt mean he is always wrong
More like
The restaurant owner siad
"The customer is always right
And then the customer says " the restauront is always wrong"
There was a 1/3 chance that one of the tape strips would not peel off completely.
Sander wtf.... how do u calculate all that stuff
@Adi R The tape tearing off might not be 50/50. It would depend on the strength of the tape and the strength of the adhesive.
@Adi R Also, it's Antinomy, not Antimony. Google thinks Antinomy isn't a word.
He should hav....e switch
“VSAUCE! kevin here.” caught me off guard

This is the first video I’ve seen of yours and I just was amazed at your white board table lmao
Watching a video like this always makes me want to own a whiteboard. Then, I remember that all of my math courses are behind me, and I would never ever use it.
we use these for school lol
Mood
@I'm Still Questionable .
Plot twist: the person you assumed was your grandfather was never really your grandfather.
Timothy Hazelo it says “back woods travel” in my notification and I’m like “wha????” Lmao
I know parallel universes is one explanation, but I don’t know if that’s the “only” one. If that’s proven to be the only possibility I would very much like to read the proof.
funny. that's exactly how i found out that i was adopted.
@寂筑羽 I heard about that hypothesis, like for every descision, the other possibility also exists. Like Hitler did win WO2, Kennedy wasn't shot (or I didn't marry that horrible woman that later would be ex-wife). If you would follow that line of reasoning, how many different universes would there be? All descisions have consequences, good or bad, sometimes good and bad at the same time. For instance because Hitler started WO2 (which was really a bad idea) we (as humans) made leaps in rocket-science (which was good), which directly led into space-race and ultimately into the Lunar Landing and now the Intenational Space Station.
What will happen if Pinocchio says: ``Now my nose will grow``?
stefan vilic in my opinion, if he lied before he said this sentence, his nose would grow, but twice.
if someone makes his nose bigger it is the truth
His voice box explodes before he completes the sentence.
Is this a paradox?
I’m a tall midget
Oxymoron
@Robocart9 what about "giant small"?
@French Soup Guy Within the bounds of english grammar, nothing, since "small" is not a word that defines someone like a name, unlike Giant, which still defines a mythical creature.
But for the sake of the argument, let's say that it fits grammatically. It would be a Giant version of Small, which would appear Giant next to an average Small, but still small or near the same size of an Average Medium.
That’s an oxymoron
If you would compare yourself to other midgets and discover you are taller than them, you are a tall midget.
Kevin:You`re odds of winning are just 50/50, right?
Me:Yeah.
Kevin:NO!
Me:what
What kinda paradox is it ??? Or is it a paradox ??
Read below :
The text below is the truth
The text above is a lie .
This doesn't belong to me tho .. This left my mind spinning
cq33xx I think you might like this; technically, Epimenidies’ original statement is just an argumentative mistake; specifically an A/E vs A/O confusion (look up categorical reasoning if you’re interested).
Take, for example, the statement ‘all sheep are green sheep.’ (A universal positive, or A statement).
You wouldn’t need to prove that no sheep are green to prove me wrong (E; universal negative); you would only need to demonstrate that at least one isn’t (O; particular negative).
Therefore, if all cretins are liars, you would only need to find one cretin who isn’t a liar to prove him wrong. He could still be lying without contradicting his statement—the fact that some cretins are not liars doesn’t mean that all cretins are honest. This also applies to the statement ‘everything I say is a lie,’ (but only when the condition is false) but not OP’s statement, not the statement ‘this statement is false’ which I explored in another thread.
It depends on the writer, if
A. The text below is the truth
B. The text above is a lie
Then 1. If you picked A. as your answer, then the text below is a truth, a Correct answer, and B. Is a False answer, and Vice versa
Or 2. If you leave it as is, its still an untouched paradox.
Without even noticing i just typed in almost the same thing!
the monte haul is easier to imagine if you put waaaaaay more doors. like 10000.
if the prize is behind one door and the 9999 others have zonks, after choosing your one door the host opens 9998 other doors, all zonks, leaving you with only 2 closed doors containing one zonk and your grand prize.
at this point you can choose between switching or keeping. the chances uou made the right choice before was 1/10000, which is very unlikely. it's much more likely that the winning door is one of the 9999 you didn't choose. now that the host has narrowed down your choices to "the 1/10000 longshot" and "last of the 9999/10000 unchosen doors that likely held the prize" which do you choose?
it's a trick, they both contain the Globgogabalab as he is both a prize and a curse.
Thanks this finally makes sense now
This is actually the best explanation I've gotten. Cheers
Wouldn't the choice to keep your original still be a 50/50 choice?
Josh Levan No. I’m the case of 10,000 doors, your chance of picking the right door the first time is .01%. No matter what we do with the other doors, we aren’t gaining any information about our door. The chance of our specific door being correct doesn’t change; it was a 1/10,000 chance at the beginning of the problem and it still is at the end
10 PM: Im gonna sleep

If God is all-powerful then he should be able to create an object so massive even he cannot move it. But if he cannot move it then he is not all-powerful.
@M'hail Right?
Look, the point is, if we have someone who is all-powerful, omnipotent, that means that they are not bound by human logic. They can bend everything to their will. If a person were to witness it happening, their mind will be blown.
All He need do is create a version of Himself (say, an avatar) who cannot move the object (say, the Earth), and then put that avatar (say, Jesus, maybe?), and put Him on it. Some actually believe that's exactly what He did.
It's a replica not the real one then
I just realized that the three Vsauces are like the three paradoxes. 3 is like Falsidical, 2 is like Veridical, 1 is like Antinomy
takes a break from calc homework for YouTube videos
“What we have is a CONVERGENT SERIES”
cries
Converges when the absolute value of r is less than 1. Starts at n=0 and converges to a/(1-r).
Now, given an f(x), rewrite that into a geometric series. So (8x-3)/(5x^2-3x+2). This was a question on my exam, I did not get that one right....
THis Is EXACTLY What I just did Dx
Oh! Here's a parodox!
"Don't trust an edited comment."
Don't see the problem. After all, an untrustworthy person is still entirely capable of telling you not to trust them.
I trust u now
That's ironic
Basicaly:
The "paradox" word is a paradox XD
If you notice 0 upside down is 0
Strange right
Not really
So then what is left?
@Commenter Five Try to find it: O
Me at 3 am on my phone trying to be quiet
My phone: WHAT IS A PARADOX???
The statement below is true.
The statement above is false.
Ok that’s it ima fail my exam tomorrow
i solved it. so if the statement says the statement below says its false then the statement above is the false one and the statement below the true one
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa I just did this not even trying!!!
'cause google dictionary was too far away, this 14 minute video 'll do 🤠
Definitions often don't do much on their own, you need to know some context/references to understand them properly.
Dox
Our opinion
*Communism intensifies
When you hear the paradox about the sun and early earth and you’re a Christian 😳
Me: What's a paradox? Let's watch VSauce!
Kevin: *explains*
Me: *stops at 1:07* Okay, thanks, see ya!
Woman: The man is lying.
Man: The woman is telling the truth.
A true Antinomy...
You didn't specify which woman/man the man/woman was talking about
Both could be true or false. The time of when the statements were stated can make all the difference..
Default: the man is telling the truth, cause he aint no woman. 🤣jk
lol, not really 🤣🤣jkjk
Both are telling the truth and lying.
She didn't say what it was the man was lying about. And since he was obviously speaking in response to her initial statement then that couldn't have been what she was talking about. This isn't a paradox at all.
The way he says envelops "triggers" me. 😂😂It doesn't even feel like a word after the video.
What if Pinocchio says: "My nose is growing"
Good job Vsauce. You just made me question my existence(and also caused me a headache).
Dr. Spock and Dr. Seuss. A pair-o-docs.
Grand prize is the Globglaglabglab, right?
Loading Ah that globglogabgalab. That schwabbledabbleshwibashwabaflibaflabaflab.
sorry, english is not my mother tongue. can you spell that, please?
ITS GLOBGLOGABGALAB
The shwabawabaflibablabablab
2:49 is always slightly a-head...
get it? cuz it is only the head, on a plastic cilinder?
I'll leave now...
"What is a paradox?"
Me- Yes and No and Sometimes
Vsauce- ...
May be we had different kinda heat energy back then coz of which our earth had liquid water
2:18 wow thanks for saying my last name
can i get that autograph tho?
If I entered a loser contest, would I win first place, or last place?
Johnny Pope middle
First place obviously (the definition of winning is to get first place, no matter what the contest is for)
Depends if ya lose or win
My brain hurts from watching this.
Him: What is a paradox
Me: A PARADOX
It only a paradox when we couldn't find a way to prove/solve it yet.
"I'm lying right now."
The bottom sentence is true.
The top sentence is false.
TokuTicker they are both false.
Overused but very confusing
What if the Earth was warmed by major geothermal energy with it's fast spinning leasfing to it's oceans and not ice?
leasfing?
dude can hold his breath took me a while to figure out whether or not that was a still shot. lol
"Paradox" actually comes from greek παρα and δοξα
Xeno’s paradox can be disproven by asking what speed per hour each is moving.
Great explanation, great presentation. You remind me of a young, science-y Alton Brown...without the food.

Shouldn't 3 choices be a trilemma?
Rick Blue Cloud - 2020-02-25
@Ordinary Shiba they seemed to miss the mark on those two words, both of which are familiar enough. But I know there are weird changes in usage with younger folks. I'm 68 years of age and have been a writer for a long time...fairly fluent with English.
Rick Blue Cloud - 2020-02-25
If the decision is an easy one, we simply call it choices or options.
Ordinary Shiba - 2020-02-25
@Rick Blue Cloud Dillemma is the formal way of saying choice or option, that's why you don't say you have a dillemma when you're say picking which clothes to wear in the morning
Rick Blue Cloud - 2020-02-25
@Ordinary Shiba but I've never heard the word used that way. It's always had a more narrow definition than that as far back as I can remember
Ordinary Shiba - 2020-02-25
@Rick Blue Cloud I mean there is no right or wrong definition just better ones so both of our definitions are acceptable
