Nitrotetrazoles - Explosions&Fire

Explosions&Fire2 - 2018-01-02

Why do we create explosions&fire? Because we got told that we couldn't.
Playlist of me making the 5-ATz: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSxj7Lr5xpE&index=7&list=PLnafk93vhO37a9ppaAMQ57j2U04YiYWGp
In this video we make the famed tetrazole ring, I talk some boring shit about 'electron withdrawing' whateverthefuck that means, and then we blow some shit up. Sound good? Well you're already here, so bloody like comment and subscribe ok c'mon u wouldn't.

Sorry there's been a bit of barrage of old content going up. So if you've tuned out because of that, don't worry, its stopped now. Theres a few old ones i'd still like to put up, but they were the recent old ones, names Molten Whistle Mix, Amine Peroxides and PETN. But they're 100% strike-fodder, so we'll let them disappear into the ether for now. They're on other sites and idk you can find them through my reddit because i don't wanna link directly to Minds or Vimeo because they're both kinda weird in their own way, whatever.

I haven't been shitposting enough in the recent descriptions, and I know all 30 of you viewers have been let down. I am a continued disappointment. Why don't you be more supportive and be like my parents and tell me to get a job and stop sleeping in.

Ok it's kinda cringy reading about me complaining about my parents because it was fine when i was like 16 to be like 'whatver mum i do what i want' but now i'm like nearly 22 its like wow i really should actually get a job and stop sleeping in, wow i actually am trash and they are correct. moving out is hard though because i got a sweet lab here. also i have no money and no job but try and ignore that for a second. there's no way i can move out and keep the sweet lab, i'm not going to be able to afford a place with a backyard let alone enough space between neighbours that i can do my thing, so do i just come back on weekends and do the lab thing? but then its like i've never moved out of home, and i'll still have to mow the lawn for my parents because i'll be here anyway and they'll be asking me if i've had enough vegetalsk lately and hwen i'm having grandkids and idk man i can't do that, so does that mean the dream lab dies? how can i even put it into storage, i know chemplauer did but i would be so nervous like that DCM man, it gets over 40 derees here so doe tha mean the bottle shatters when it gets about boiling?? and like everything corrodes already, i'll have to throwin all th waste out and idk what to even start doing that or woh i woudl even gert there is the second place.

But I know it's not my place to complain about things here so I wont subject you to that.

Start your new year off right. If you start watching my video when I finally upload it, you'll be like commenting and subscribing when the video ends and that's beautiful.
I'm using memes to relate to children haha lol look how in touch i am aren't i a great company haha buy my fried chicken u fat fucks

Mush V. Peets - 2019-07-21

....Soooo, is explosives chemistry just the science of drawing way too many nitrogens in your molecular diagrams?

Shoggo - 2019-09-19

Pmuch. Nitrogen is an angery boi that releases a LOT of energy when it drops to a stable state because N2 is EXTREMELY stable. As in it literally needs lightning to fix.

M.L. CH - 2019-10-04

Imagine when you could use a noble gas.

kader gumus - 2019-10-29

@M.L. CH Neon-neon double bonds.
C2Ne14: Explodes in everywhere!

kader gumus - 2020-01-19

I forgot!
Who needs neon when helium has more ionization energy than neon?
C2He14: Best explosive, ever!

Ricardo Pesenti - 2020-02-02

Exactly. If you put enough nitrogen into a molecule, it gets explosive. The easiest way is to nitrate (TNT, Nitroglycerin (Explosive in Dynamite) etc.).

Libor Tinka - 2019-07-18

Some explosives are just CuNTZ.

Jaydaks rules - 2019-12-04

some cunts are just explosive

Mads Hvelplund - 2019-07-24

It must be hard work making all those empty Strongbow cans, but you do it for science anyway ;)

Explosions&Fire2 - 2019-07-24

For the science

Explosions&Fire2 - 2019-07-24

Actually this isn't so much a joke, I prefer the bottles but will drink the cans so I can use them in the videos haha

S A - 2019-12-14

Better than Whiteclaw. I wouldn't respect you if they were whiteclaw.

Matthew Cox - 2019-06-01

AgNTz.... I'd pronounce that as "Angst."

TheMattc999 - 2019-07-21

Matthew Cox which is caused by CuNTZ....

Martin Köhler - 2019-07-21

Lmfao
😂😂😂

faiz fiderli - 2019-11-23

lol i thought of that

faiz fiderli - 2019-11-23

It's actually made out of the angst energy from linkin park

Michal Štein - 2020-01-03

Agnitz is cooler

Puckosar - 2019-07-22

I really really want so see a kilogram of that silver stuff go off now. Feel like it would blow a hole in wall or something

Satoma Karlsson - 2019-07-24

Blow up a house

Ktaldoxx - 2019-07-25

0.12g shredded that can... 8000 times that would blow a car to shreds easily holy shit

Black Hat - 2019-08-11

You really don't want to make comments like that on the internet friend.

Lobster Johnson - 2019-08-17

@Black Hat it's not really a problem..

KingHalbatorix - 2019-12-22

@Black Hat edgy script kiddie

SweGunner71 - 2019-07-21

I love CuNTZ. I always explode when I play with CuNTZ.

Ayan - 2019-07-23

The CuNTZ explodes as well

Drakkar Calethiel - 2018-01-02

CuNTZ xD Couldn't stop laughing! :D

Mitchell Kuske - 2019-03-02

Look into shaped charges..

That i would pay to see

Nigel Depledge - 2019-09-26

"CuNTz : insensitive"

LMAO

Magnus Danger Magnus - 2019-07-19

Just discovered your channel last night. I do a kid's chemistry stage show called Magnus'Explosion Laboratory and this channel is utter gold.
Your Cu(I)/Cu(II) description gave me a top shelf laugh. Thanks for a great channel.

The Shocker - 2019-04-16

Welcome back ADHD hetero Hugh Grant

Cuntz: Sensitive

My sides are in orbit

Tate McAluney - 2018-01-02

NO WAY HE DID ITTT

Explosions&Fire2 - 2018-01-02

Tate McAluney I DID ITTTT

AllChemystery - 2018-01-02

Sweet! You did it! The messing around trying to get the synthesis correct was worth it just to see how brilliant these compounds really are. I must say though that the HgNTZ variant is better still( if possible) but obviously bad is that it is mercury based, however it is beastly stuff. It is a monster. The yellow colour of your original NaNTZ is unusual- maybe it’s just that method since mine was crystal white with a very pale yellow beige silver counterpart. Again Nice job! Great to see you still want to make new videos.

Explosions&Fire2 - 2018-01-02

AllChemystery it is a very annoying yellow colour that somehow makes it through into all the products. I'm surprised the DBX-1 wasn't bloody yellow as well. But yeah, if I was to do this again I'd make the NaNTz on a bigger scale so I could do the recryst better, and that should clear it up.
As for the mercury salt, yeah, I need to get into mercury chemistry but it scares me a little.... It should be fine but goddamn I am messy sometimes and I really should not ever do mercury chemistry messily

Oit Thegroit - 2019-07-20

@Explosions&Fire2 I have a quick question: why are silver (I) and copper (I) salts more unstable than alkali metal salts, even though the anion has the exact same charge? Not trying to sound dumb, I'm just curious.

Gregg Robinson - 2020-01-12

@Oit Thegroit My guess is that in general the bonds formed by transition metal salts of these unstable cpds are more covalent in character and therefore better able to stabilize the transition states, which means lower activation energies? But then, I wouldn't screw around with any of these N-rich cpds.

xan nation - 2019-04-05

this is now my favorite video and i now have a new favorite explosive .....

cuntz

Raikenzera - 2019-09-20

7:24 Admit it, you laughed at seeing "Cuntz: Sensitive" on the screen.

Nolyism - 2019-07-17

You should rent out an actual bomb range and set off a kg of the silver salt. I want to see a yard shed turned into splinters.

GRBTutorials - 2019-07-19

That would be... quite dangerous.

Douglas Boshears - 2019-09-06

I don't think he has bomb range ad revenue $ yet lol

Nolyism - 2019-09-07

You'd be surprised how little it costs.

drags vissa - 2019-10-24

@Nolyism this is Australia... we live in a nanny nation.. there’s no such thing as bomb range access paid or not.. I’m actually perplexed as to how or why the government hasn’t shredded this channel a new one yet (glad it hasn’t) even under the guise of science.. making explosives would be viewed pretty dimly.

Steve Molloy - 2020-01-21

Wouldn't wanna cook that much...,or transport it....or be anywhere it!

Ellert van Koperen - 2019-07-22

One and a half year and the channel is still there, thank the youtube-gods

southern katrina - 2020-03-01

They're too busy pulling down Cody's Lab.

Adumbrate - 2018-02-05

That silver salt is insane

Ravnican127 - 2019-07-30

"CuNTZ = sensitive" during the shock test had me cracking up.

Nikolai Turcan - 2019-07-18

Love your attitude and the fact that you show the actual research makes it even better, sincerly u are the best, i wasn't so interested in chemistry since fifth grade.
Love for copper I
However i really don't see a reason for shutting down your channel, but if it happens, i'll be the first subscriber to Explosions&Fire3

Siew Bian Ang - 2019-07-24

Can you make 100kg of CuNTZ for me? I need it to go to Mars.

Evi1M4chine - 2019-09-21

Wouldn’t you prefer 2×60 kg of CuNTZ, at least? For double the … blast. ;)

SuperShyerGuy - 2019-08-11

I love how half the in-video comments are just you complaining about how everything you make is yellow.

Blight - 2019-07-21

(4:30) My dude, those are Shaped charge, you're making Anti-can explosive.

science_and_anonymous - 2018-01-02

OW HELL YEAH!!! KING OF THE PRIMARY EXPLOSIVES!!!

Explosions&Fire2 - 2018-01-02

science_and_anonymous I'll put that on my official name badge oh yeahh

Franz Kass - 2018-12-09

Well, if you love copper, try tetrammine copper perchlorate, or bis-ethylenediammine copper perchlorate. they flash beautifully green-blue. Detonation is not extreme; far away from e.g. lead azide

T Sclly - 2019-07-20

Funny, but what about electrical detonation? [a little safer??]

jared garden - 2018-05-04

How about CNTz or cyanoNTz, ok 5-cyanotetrazole.
Given that nitriles are even stronger electron withdrawing groups than nitro groups then we would expect lower stability or lower activation evergy. Which i can see might be undesirable, but you should try it anyway, i reckon you could diazotize the 5-aminotetrazole with sodium nitrite and HCl and then react that with copper copper(I)cyanide which should yield you your desirable material.
Just make sure you use a stoichiometric quantity of HCl, dont wanna be making no hydrocyanic acid now do ya.

TheDerpy Kitty - 2019-10-12

jared garden This likely would be more sensitive but would have less power, as you would be making fewer gases and releasing less energy.

lew allen - 2019-12-29

What's the law on this type of stuff in oz? I'm scared to even like a video from the UK 😂

MisterGee Marino - 2019-07-23

OK. So, what would happen if one were to mix one of these Nitrotetrazoles with, say, KNO3, as an Oxidizer?

Yip Man - 2019-07-24

MisterGee Marino bad things

Corey - 2020-01-13

I'm pretty sure the explosions aren't caused by oxidation, so either nothing or it would destroy the explosive.

Azide Fox - 2018-01-03

This is my new favourite video on the entire internet, like ever.

Brian Streufert - 2019-09-23

You passion for this stuff is so awesome, so pure. Hope things are going well on your phd and research group thingggg!

Michael [APFX] - 2019-07-24

5:14 holy shit couldn't learn anything from that point on, I just kept laughing

Caybo Kotze - 2019-07-20

Do a video with 200 grams standing 1 mile away.

Somnath Patra - 2018-09-10

0:46 safer explosive!!! LOL 😹😹 love your videos.

Vojtěch Pešl - 2018-11-14

Is there going to be more of Nitrotetrazoles ? Lovely compounds :D

Martin Laptop - 2019-09-10

I’m no chemist but found this one ☝🏻 interesting
I have wonderful hobbies 🤫🤣

Strothy2 - 2019-07-27

i think i found my new favorite channel :D

MetallicaLife4 - 2020-01-08

the little subtexts in this vid had me in tears XD

El Gatto - 2019-07-30

CuNTZ explosive? Is this just the chemist's version of Hoes Mad?

RadioTrefoil - 2018-01-04

This is definitely my favourite chemistry video ever. Excellent work

TheDoctor - 2019-07-29

Have a reference for the 5 NTZ from 5 ATZ reacting with sodium nitrite?

hasan kharfan - 2019-07-22

5:15 ....... This guy..... 😂

750 kV - 2019-06-26

04:40 - :D

LOL @ the CuNTz joke. :D

Alloran - 2019-09-23

The yellow chemistry is killing me. Thank you for this.

NewWorldJacobite - 2019-08-20

The NaNTz explosion woke my cat up. 😂

Genki G - 2019-07-21

honestly you seem like an absolute lad, did you do a vid on nitrogentriiodine yet?

Quantum Lab - 2018-05-15

While I was examining space though my telescope... I think I saw your match stick.

Explosions&Fire2 - 2018-05-17

HV Lab oh wow, is it having a good time? Gone to a wide open field where it can run all day? Ive finally got closure, thankyou

ElementalMaker - 2020-02-26

Now that's some impressive stuff!

Slarty - 2019-07-20

@3:41, thanks for answering my question

Gavin Carstens - 2019-07-21

Like a matchstick rocket.

Nathan Pimental - 2018-01-02

Great work, yet another great chemical comedy show :) Congrats!

Explosions&Fire2 - 2018-01-02
