In this video, I analyzed some animal bones for heavy metals like lead and mercury, anions like chlorides and sulfates and radio isotopes like Strontium and Cesium. The chemistry content reveal some surprises ! Happy Thanksgiving ! Become a Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/user?u=11973673
It looks like your thumbnail is now part of the metaverse, too ;-)
Thank you for your service, you must have gone through so much sacrifice to get those bone samples!
You have no idea....
Not too much of a guess that the limestone feed additive, they used on each animal, came from different suppliers, probably different countries even. The lead probably from old plumbing used to provide water to the piggery, and also likely simply concentrated from run off water from roads into lakes, where the water used to grow the pigs came from. If you re do, check if the zinc concentration follows the lead one, and also see if different suppliers have the same ratio, so best to buy some known imported chicken, or at least originating from a different country than the first lot, to see if there is a difference.
Good comment. Thanks . This is a very shot snapshot of what's going on but was never intended to be exhaustive in any way. To be accurate, a different part of each animal growing in the same AND different area should have been monitored at different ages and compared with the same study from other suppliers from different areas. But that would be a bit much for a silly youtube video wouldnt it ?
Great to see a longer video from you!
Hey Fozzie Bear! Thanks ... trying to stay interesting and NOT fall in the classic "filler" trap and sponsorship nonsense...feel free to point that out if i ever do...
Awesome video as always
Thanks ! A lot of work but i like the reward! Thank you for watching!
Great video :)
Thanks so much!
great!
Don 't know what is the difference between your chanel and Cody's. Your's is way better regarding deeper knowledge. Maybe people can not consume too much of it (not talkin' about the meat)
Maybe .. i just do what i love doing, I think Cody does too. He is pretty good and does dig deeper sometimes.
I would say that Sr comes from fireworks.
Really ? Why?

0:57 i spat my figurative coffee xD
Great work, as always!
just a few points tho, since you are trying to detect trace metals, would it have been better to use a ceramic crucible for incineration of the bones, and to use metal free acid? (i know you can make a crude diy version by putting in a closed plastic box 2 beakers, one with commercial concentrated hydrochloric acid and the other with pure water, like MilliQ water to be overkill. after a few days the concentration of HCl will be the same in both beakers, but one is going to have no trace metals, or at least fewer than the original acid)
in theory since you used the same setup for all samples it would be a systematic error, so the end result should still be relatable between samples

Thanks Ubya! Yes ! In a perfect world i would have used a ceramic or a graphite crucible but i don't have any so i improvised... iron did show up on my first trial with chicken bones so i re did it ... I also wanted to release the video for Thanksgiving and barely had time to finish! I did check my acid, water and NaOH . I didnt worry about calcium potassium and other common contaminent since i only cared about a few metals anyway. Both acid and base were surprisingly clean . But your right it would have been better and nitric acid would have been best. Thanks again !
