Now iam confused. is it the way of coating he electrode with Pt?

EvilPlagueDoctor - 2020-03-31

it is A way of plating an Chromium nickle alloy wire with Pt.

May I ask what part you are confused about?

phantomcreamer - 2019-05-28

Do platinum-plated electrodes de-platinize over time if used in electrolysis?

Aussie Chemist - 2019-05-29

phantomcreamer everything will wear off eventually if you use it enough

phantomcreamer - 2019-05-29

@Aussie Chemist okay, I was just wondering because at work we use pure platinum electrodes and they last seemingly forever, at least thousands of times, until something else on the unit breaks.

Aussie Chemist - 2019-05-29

phantomcreamer hahaha pure pt of course . The pt plating on electrode is like a few micro meter thick , yet it will last thousands of hours , the pure Pt electrode is in a sense invulnerable to wearing,

phantomcreamer - 2019-05-29

@Aussie Chemist Noice! Thanks for the info. BTW, I don't have a couple hundred bucks to spend on solutions. Would you mail a piece to me for a price? ;)

Chemistry'sCuriosities Cannagorilla - 2018-07-31

I thought you where doing platinum on carbon?

Aussie Chemist - 2018-08-01

... 😑

Aussie Chemist - 2018-08-01

Ok it’s fair to think that way, but what did you think the alloy wire were there for?

Aussie Chemist - 2018-08-01

largeNumberGoesHere gmail I did say “this serves to remove the oxide layer, and expose the fresh metal underneath “

Chemistry'sCuriosities Cannagorilla - 2018-08-01

Aussie Chemist the way you had wrote it I assumed you would be making Platinum on carbon catalyst. The powder form. None the less this was a great video. Great tutorial.

Will H2O2 corrode Pt?

Doctor Purple - 2019-01-03

No, it shouldn't
