NUKE - 2019-10-15

Those notifications in the end doesn't allow us to see the 2 final animations...

Freeman Vashier - 2019-10-12

Sarah didn't see shit as she had her back turned to adam everytime he passed...

NUKE - 2019-10-15

correct xD

The Vintage Nerd Productions - 2019-12-01

@NUKE Tsar bomba

Jo Reven - 2019-12-29

She's got eyes on the back of her head.

Mandolinic - 2017-12-31

I'd like to think that somehow Adam and Sarah manage to get together - but I suppose that's down to chemistry, not physics ;-)

Bandari Chik - 2019-06-09

Its because Adam keeps running away at the speed of light.... 🤣🤣🤣

mdiem - 2019-10-24

Chemistry is a subset of physics, but is more quantum mechanics than general relativity, and QM and GR can't seem to get together either.

Alfonso J. Ramos - 2019-11-21

Chemistry is important, yet things would get physical.

Phenomenal Physics - 2020-01-17

@Bandari Chik and nothing can escape the speed light so they'll never be at rest with respect to each other🤣

Arkadi Danielyan - 2020-02-24

Mandolinic from Adam’s point of view they need to have sex tonight, from Sarah’s point of view they already had sex yesterday and she has a headache. Both point of views are equally valid.

Kiritsu - 2017-12-31

I had never heard about this electromagnetic analogy to gravity before, wow

Uncomfortable Truth - 2019-10-30

I have yet to see anyone explain satisfactorily how gravity and magnetism cannot be effects of the same force.

Jackson Carroll - 2019-04-07

I was today-years-old when I learned gravitation had a relativistic component similar to the magnetic counterpart to electricity. Electrical engineer here keeping my eyes open for exciting market opportunities to translate some knowledge from EM to gravity for applications. C'mon market capitalism, c'mon.

John Marshall - 2017-12-31

Wow I never realized that a moving mass produces a field analogous to magnetism, but it makes sense. Eye opening, thanks!

fradd - 2017-12-30

So what is that "new" gravity field? I dont get it.

Star Trek Theory - 2018-03-27

+ Gorkem
Gravity is/maybe a force rather than a byproduct of the bending of space-time.
As such, it is/maybe DIRECTLY related to EM, therefore can be repulsive, or attractive.
Just so happens HERE, gravity is attractive.
We don't have any empirical data supporting the idea that there is a such thing as a gravitational constant. We just assume it's the same in all parts of the universe.

Görkem Seven Vids - 2018-04-08

have we ever observed the new gravity white arrow at 7:22 at real world?

Star Trek Theory - 2018-04-08

Real world observations: Gyroscopes, maybe.

This guy is a bit of a nervous speaker but the lecture is interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkWiBxWieQU

Non-inertial Observer - 2019-07-28

@Görkem Seven VidsYes, Gravity Probe B proved gravito-electromagnetism. (It is just an approximation of general relativity, which has been confirmed many times)

Undercover Diatom - 2019-09-06

Think of it as the waves in a body of water after a heavy boat has sailed by VS the waves in the water when the boat is standing still. Now, think of a much smaller boat in its vicinity in both cases. The effect of the residual waves on the smaller boat can be thought of, approximately, as a relativistic effect due to the heavy boat's mass. EDIT: the intrisic, classical, gravity can be thought of as a reduction in waves between two boats VS the waves of the body of water around them.

Isnar Mori - 2017-12-30

What if in the first case the charges and Adam are moving fast enough that the magnetic attraction overwhelms the electric repulsion?

Physics Videos by Eugene Khutoryansky - 2017-12-30

That can never happen. You would have to move at the speed of light just for the magnetic attraction to equal the electric repulsion. (In this case, Sarah will see Adam's clock stand still.)

I encourage people to support Mr. Khutoryansky (is that spelled right?) by donating even a little via Patreon. A link is in the comments.

Confession: I keep forgetting to do that, but hopefully I'll finally get it done soon. These videos are certainly worth a $1 tip, even on my limited budget.

Physics Videos by Eugene Khutoryansky - 2017-12-30

Thanks for that comment. I appreciate that.

Marc in NA - 2018-07-28

Is there a way to make a one-time donation on patreon? I don't see that option. I do not want to be signed up with my credit card to make monthly donations and then I am required to cancel them.

*TRICKY THING ABOUT THIS*

The girl's reference frame supposedly witnessed electric charges in motion in the conductor.

And the guy's reference frame witnessed no motion in the conductor.

The tricky thing is, from BOTH of their reference frames, they failed to consider the conductor reference frame.

If they had, here's what they'd have seen:
1) the girl would have looked AT the conductor and seen it moving. But because another inertial reference frame -- inside the conductor -- is present, had she not failed to notice the conductor's reference frame, she would have said this: "From my reference frame, the conductor is moving. But also from my reference frame, I notice that there is no movement in the conductor reference frame and thus no moving charges."

2) Likewise, the guy would have said: "The conductor is not moving in my reference frame. And in the conductor's reference frame, nothing is moving -- no moving charges."

It's one thing to account for all reference frames when trying to determine motion. It's another to say "I'm only going to consider my reference frame and no one elses."

The girl's failure to consider the conductor's own internal inertial reference frame would mean one (or more) of several things:
1) she doesn't know from electron/charge flow in conductors, and thinks that if she sees a moving wire, BAM that means current is flowing (which is not necessarily true)
2) she is not a STEM graduate
3) given (2), she has no business providing commentary about Relativity

If you fail to considers the truth about the reference frames in your particular situation -- oh dear lord.

It brings to mind some dialog from Star Wars: A New Hope:

UNCLE OWEN:
"Well, he'd better have those units
in the south range repaired be midday
or there'll be hell to pay!"
.
.
.

Next class: how consciousness arises in the first place in Sarah, Adam, and you, the viewer. Also, we solve once and for all whether free will exists or if it comes down to pure determinism. Then we break for lunch.

I'll have what Adam's having

Christian Palmroos - 2017-12-30

Thank you for an amazing video once again, Eugene! Though as a physics student I must ask, does this "new" gravitational field truly exist, or is it just a mathematical trick to get the equations balance out? I have never heard of this "new gravity" before in my life, and to me it seems kind of artificial.

Physics Videos by Eugene Khutoryansky - 2017-12-30

Neither the traditional nor the new gravitational fields actually exist, as this is really a curvature of space-time. Thinking of it as fields helps give us an intuitive understanding of the effects of gravity in cases where all objects are moving slowly relative to the speed of light and where there are no strong gravitational fields present. In particular, the effects of the "new" gravitational field are a way to approximate the effects of the elements of the stress-energy tensor other than T00. By the way, electric and magnetic fields also don't actually exist, as this is really the exchange of photons between charged particles.

Christian Palmroos - 2017-12-31

Thank you for your answer. It seems I don't understand the forces of nature at all yet.

chase hickman - 2018-01-02

TheChrasse Don’t worry, humanity is still learning about them in general, anyways.

Ivan Zaremez - 2019-10-14

just absurdity

Jeremiah Mullikin - 2018-01-08

Thanks for bringing this to the masses. I know it sounds crazy to some people when I say that EMdrives work this way using the invariant mass of counterpropagating photons.

Görkem Seven Vids - 2019-01-29

Adam: No U!

Physics Videos by Eugene Khutoryansky - 2017-12-30

As fast as possible, but not faster than the speed of light. Another person posted a comment a few nano-seconds before you did. :)

Minh Nhật Phạm - 2017-12-30

I agree, but from my perspective, I was the first one! Does this violate any laws of physic?

Charles McMillion - 2019-05-23

There are no magnetic fields.

And I'd tap Sarah.

Bill A - 2019-06-13
