In this visualization, the distance of each vertex from the center is determined by how correct of a position that number is in. For example, if the number 1 is in the middle of the array, it will produce a very short line, as it is supposed to be the first element in the array. However, if the number 1 is near the beginning or end of the array, it will produce a much longer line. This means that, when fully sorted, every vertex will be at its max distance, and a loop will be produced.

@BetaDude40 just one thing, I don't think it is so easy for us humans to sort the list. I mean don't get me wrong, if you have 5 elements, you'll get it straight away, but what if you have a list of numbers from 1 to 10^6 put in an array of length 10000. Our brain works similarly to selection sort when sorting, it finds the smallest element and puts it in the beginning and repeats the process until done, which is quite time consuming. Computer on the other hand has some way faster ways of sorting which we humans cannot perform so effortlessly.

@Lunar Delta Yeah, I agree to a point, but it sounds pleasant to me because it's just so COOL! Like, it's such a noise that you just have to experience it, and I think the experience is worth it. Kinda like The Avalanches - Extra Kings, or The Avalanches - A Different Feeling, or any of the songs by SWANS (Like To Be Kind, for example), the noise parts are the most fun, even though they're more "Auditory Experiences" and less "Music."

How to do radix lsd sort on a paper:
1) Write all numbers in one line
2) Make a spreadsheet with lines 0-9
3) Read the numbers (from left to right)
4) Read the FIRST digit from RIGHT side of the number
5) Write it into the according row
6) Go to the next number
7) After you go through all numbers, write the numbers in one line again (start with row 0, then row 1....)
8) Repeat 2-7 with SECOND, THIRD... last digit; if your numbers have less than the said number of digits, write them in row 0
9) When all the numbers are in row 0, they are sorted

I suppose the more "sorted" a point is, the closer it is to the edge of the circle. So the length of a particular "radius" is a measure of how "far away" it is from the position it should be.
More sorted = more towards the "edge".
As there are spiked points of many colors not really where they should be, I don't think that's the case. I think it is based on the data adjacent to it, as in 'the gap between the colors next to each other is represented in the gap between the spikes and valleys'.
