Scott Leaf - 2016-12-09

I never feel knowledgable enough to comment intelligently but thank you for these great videos.

Chicken Sandwich - 2019-07-05

@Taricus right? I find that to be the most common occurrence on here regardless of subject or channel.

tom black - 2019-07-21

Scott Leaf if it’s help these people are mad murders.. all work in weapons industries

David Kelley - 2019-07-30

Love your vids! ♥╣[-_-]╠♥

Hayden Travis - 2019-12-03

I never say anything intelligent, but I'm thankful people like you do.

Vault Hunter - 2019-12-05

Semi-Riemannian Geometry, specifically the Lorentz Model. Start with Minkowski Spacetime, that's where you'll see the light cone. You'll need some elementary differential geometry which heavily depends on Linear Algebra. You'll need covariant derivative and tensor field in higher dimensions.

MetalChick27 - 2019-01-17

7:06 “now that we’ve nailed the penrose diagram...” umm I’m not sure I’ve nailed anything other than the fact that I’m severely confused.

Kai Widman - 2017-01-05

When I am on my death bed I want to be thrown into a black hole. It would be well worth the pain of spaghettification.

you2tooyou2too - 2019-10-18

If you jump in before you die, your family will know (for all of human future) that you are not dead! BTW: Most spaghettification 'examples' presume you go in feet first. I suggest (so you retain consciousness for as long as possible (perhaps a few million or billion years for your family), & reduce the experienced duration of pain (your head dies first, but much later than your feet would be ripped off) that you go in oriented as though wearing a wing-suit.

Stephen Hill - 2019-12-09

@Otherized Meme No you wouldn't. Far too much gravity for that to happen.

Vivek Sathish - 2019-12-11

If u can cross the accretion disc then..

derek flegg - 2019-12-12

Maybe you'd be spread evenly over the circumference of the singularity at the event horizon

John Marksman - 2020-02-02

Need to transmit information. Just smoke Salvia and explore

KesselRunner606 - 2019-04-16

Not afraid to admit: barely understood a word of this. It was like trying to explain the internal combustion engine to a chimpanzee.

Charles Bosse - 2019-12-09

@Easysquirts 69 on the contrary, this is a case where relying on "common" sense is almost guaranteed to lead you off course. Nothing in daily experience is anything like GR at the extreme of an event horizon. At least for SR there is the fairly relatable Doppler Effect, though even there simultaneity is hard to parse intuitively. There's no shame in needing to take a few beats to think over the implications here, even if you feel like it all follows pretty easily.

Easysquirts 69 - 2019-12-09

Charles Bosse I disagree, I thought it was easy and absorbed all of the information as soon as it was given to me.

TCG Global Security Consulting - 2020-01-02

That's actually been done already! Some of them work in the hood to this day! 😂

CrazyPanda - 2020-01-14

Lol same, But I'm 16 so I'll have time to search this shit up

TCG Global Security Consulting - 2020-01-15

@CrazyPanda not if left wing liberals have their way. This country is about to see another civil war son. If I were you I'd get off the computer and find an adult to teach you about freedom and America and how to shoot. But that's just me! Meanwhile guys like me will be defending this nation from corrupt politicians so you can someday have that freedom we fight for. Then you can research all this astronomical stuff to your hearts complete content and fill!

Ashlyn Murphy - 2018-03-07

You should make a shirt that says
“What happens below the event horizon stays below the event horizon”

285runt - 2020-01-12

Lol

Rick Sanchez - 2020-01-14

I would buy that shirt

ColecoKid - 2020-02-18

underrated comment!

Sergei Garbar - 2020-03-01

Vegas is black hole for money. Money is kind of energy appearing from nowhere in Federal Reserve System.

Thomas Halsted - 2019-11-10

"What happens below the Event Horizon… stays below the Event Horizon."

Huh. Sounds familiar.

TCG Global Security Consulting - 2020-01-02

Is that really your head in that emoji icon? If so, it appears your head has already fallen over the event horizon! A hairy turd ball that eternal black hole stuck a face on to try and make it easier to digest!

Hasan Jamali - 2020-01-02

TCG Global Security Consulting jesus

TCG Global Security Consulting - 2020-01-02

@Hasan Jamali nope but I met him once. He was mowing yards and landscaping in my neighborhood!

Thomas Halsted - 2020-01-08

@TCG Global Security Consulting Uhh…
Who?
What?
When?
Where?
Why?
How?

TCG Global Security Consulting - 2020-01-08

@Thomas Halsted Idiot!

ZeroEight - 2019-04-15

I came here seeking answers, and left only having more questions.

luisqsk - 2019-04-22

But were the initial questions answered

Raghu Veer - 2019-05-26

Ad I left feeling stupid

nesseiht gnay - 2019-06-27

thats the beauty of science

Jesse King - 2019-10-16

A common paradox where black holes are concerned.

Oerba Yun Mizu - 2019-11-27

That's how you know it was good science.

Just a bit of Junkie - 2016-12-12

Obviously this isn't right. The only thing that happens to you in the black hole is that you travel into the future slightly and get returned to Earth. It's like you morons didn't even see Interstellar!

Dennis Wiebler - 2019-10-15

@Frank Marano and ?

jmitterii2 - 2019-10-29

Funny. But also sad at the truth that most people get their science or any knowledge of the world at all from fantasy fiction movies.

Bernd DasBrot - 2020-01-21

@Dennis Wiebler It has been proven in experiment that the future can influence the past. Not only the other way around.

White Rice - 2020-02-18

Everyone knows black holes are powered by the greatest force in the universe: love.

Eddi Doss - 2020-02-22

Bernd DasBrot wo?

Marc T. - 2019-03-05

My paycheck goes faster then the speed of light sigh..into a singularity called bills.

FALLEN ANGEL - 2019-05-27

We come from a singularity.

Puffy Merc - 2019-08-09

Extra coreculor spending activities must be the remaining hawking radiation

medexamtoolsdotcom - 2019-09-05

So stop paying so much for crap. Jesus I don't even make 5 figures and even I'm hanging on.

Andrew Bills - 2019-09-05

Haha

Sergei Garbar - 2020-03-01

Money-kind of ebergy appearing from thin air in FRS and multiplied in banks ala in fotpelectronic multiplier.

Karlsson - 2016-12-09

after every video I feel more educated and more confused at the same time...

Nightwinger289 - 2017-05-29

Great zombie jesus idk who you think you are hawking proved this if I'm spelling is bad it's because I'm rushing to get out of this pointless conversation with you moron your probably a teacher tbh who is just upset at your shit salary you can't except I'm right and by the way there is no fifth grand specific English class so wtf also every exam, test or report I've gotten A's go back to your school you are ignorant and clearly know nothing about science

surfinmuso - 2017-05-29

omg even with spellcheck u can't spell correctly. 5th grade(not grand lol) is primary school and omg-u really need to go back there quickly. I highly doubt u even passed primary school. go back to the abc's dude.

Nightwinger289 - 2017-05-29

Great zombie jesus auto complete lol if I'm on mobile so it's way harder plus I'm no keyboard warrior your dumb you tried to act smart go back to school and away from the reply button kid
Jk that was a bait comment hit me with your best shot

Sándor Nagy - 2019-10-19

hmm.. kid, this is just fantasy

Sonicgott - 2019-10-28

Welcome to science.

Schinsky - 2019-05-21

I cant follow any of this. I´ve never felt so dumb lol.

Tech Mayank - 2019-07-01

Stop reading the comment section while watching the video

Tina - 2017-01-13

"She ripped a hole in our universe. A gateway to another dimension. A dimension of pure chaos".

medexamtoolsdotcom - 2019-09-05

Is that a quote from the movie event horizon?

Wild one - 2019-09-15

- "A dimension of pure..
Evil..."

Wild one - 2019-09-15

@medexamtoolsdotcom Yes. But the only correction is "She *tore a hole in our universe"

Pudgebone TV - 2020-02-27

Where we're going you won't need eyes

Sergei Garbar - 2020-03-01

Arthir C Clarke? Stanislaw Lem?

Aaron Ramsden - 2019-06-04

yep, don't understand any of this but that won't stop me trying 😂

marsupius - 2020-03-06

"Now let's throw a monkey into that black hole." That should be a T-shirt.

Alan Armando - 2019-11-10

4:38 - "super handy for understanding monkey's trajectories" lol

Chase Field - 2017-04-03

"Belief should wait on the evidence." An idea applicable across many topics.

Jacob Persico - 2020-03-20

8:30 "Actually no" So what DOES the monkey see as it goes past the event horizon??

Beth Bartlett - 2018-07-07

Coolest thread I've ever seen on YouTube is on this Video -
Ahhhhh there are cool normal people - they're in the Intelligent Tribe - on the Physics Channel!
⚛⚛⚛⚛⚛⚛⚛⚛

vertigoz - 2017-02-18

What happens at tje event horizon stays at the event horizon!

Filip Bošnjak - 2018-07-21

4:06 that was so damn coool!!

YeahGetThaT - 2016-12-14

"Anything that happens below the Event Horizon, stays below the Event Horizon"
Please put that on a PBS Spacetime T-Shirt

TheWolfboy180 - 2017-12-22

5:37 I absolutely love how diabolical he gets!

Calixto Cabrera - 2019-02-24

Everyone talks about this event, none had the expirience of dreaming of being not even close to a sphere of this magnitude.

A Potato - 2017-04-28

The way he says " its time you learn it" makes me feel like this is a rite of passage

Brian Ski - 2017-06-15

I'm looking forward to seeing your episode on charged and rotating black holes. :)

amicloud - 2018-10-02

Oh my goodness, I never noticed they put they ship from Event Horizon on the screen with the definition.

frutrace - 2020-01-06

And Battlestar Galactica was the monkey rescue ship

Tyler Newman - 2019-03-30

10:00 "We can see the monkey blow us"

teeheehee.

Airehk - 2019-06-28

It's a great video when I need to repeat 10 second intervals every so often to digest what I heard.

Nedn - 2016-12-13

i watch this when im going to sleep cause its relaxing and refreshes your memory, thanks keep the great work up!

Verrückt - 2017-07-11

0:06 omg a handsome nerd ! Yay thats exactly what im looking for..

Wahn Yoon - 2018-11-17

That monkey is my brain watching this show. Stretched beyond recognition.

Silvio Šarunić - 2017-08-25

Thank you for speaking slowly!!!! :) now your videos are much better!!!! :) better to watch! because they are among best videos on youtube !! :) :)

Jamie Lancaster - 2019-12-03

“ Do you see anything at all when you cross into the black hole”? He’ll no because your eyes have already been ripped apart😉

Strofi Kornego - 2016-12-10

Do not worry about monkey - it will irradiate back as Hawking Radiation.

João Cesario - 2016-12-10

he probably didn't even feel anything

SpudHead - 2018-10-08

He'll be fine, he just gets smeared.

Matyniov - 2019-04-06

Thanks for mentioning that! I worried that i won't ever see it again!!!

Nando & Blonde Moby Dick - 2019-06-22

he don't want go to space he is smarter than us

omaduskilas - 2019-04-17

First rule of event horizon... don’t talk about event horizon.

Kesi Hamilton - 2017-01-05

"Graceful, reverse swan dive!" So stylish

WESZTAR DRAKE - 2017-07-24

This video messed up all my mind even bigger than watching memento, interstellar and Donnie Darko all together in one day.

Abel Cheng - 2017-05-09

the event horizon sounds like my coworker when you get him talking Star trek

SeBu - 2019-09-01

3:54

presses big red alarm button with WARP DETECTED

Space marines deploy

Josh Bowen - 2018-12-08

I don't understand what I'm watching in any fashion! I feel like i have a low IQ🤷‍♂️

Jaydien Parks - 2018-12-12

It's physics of course it's hard

Jonathan Walther - 2018-01-29

10:00 - 10:25 Thanks for making use of the Shepard effect illustrating the "fall" in the block hole. What a cool idea!!

siribiriz - 2019-01-25

Thrilled as to how far we've come as a species, in pursuit of infinity. Great production

jen sen - 2016-12-09

You mean there is no 5th dimension children's room in a black hole?!

Some Guy - 2019-06-08

@King Saul It would, it would just happen after you crossed the event horizon rather than before. You can't enter a small black hole alive because of spaghettification, you can enter a supermassive black hole alive but spaghettification will still eventually kill you after doing so.

dopamine trigger - 2019-06-16

no, everyone knows that crossing the event horizon is actually a gateway to Hell

Some Guy - 2019-06-17

@dopamine trigger I take it you've seen a particularly gruesome movie named after this black hole attribute? ;D

Jeff Franklin - 2019-08-03

@dopamine trigger Protect me from Maximilian.

Jeff Franklin - 2019-08-03

@Luciano Garcia that can't be unless the signal from TARS relaying the singularity data was sent from near the singularity to and into the portal to get to Cooper.

Who’s Your Mama - 2016-12-13

Is the fabric of space time breakable? can it "physically tear?"

Some Guy - 2019-06-08

If you mean 'torn' as in a hole is made between areas of spacetime within which spacetime does not exist, then no. You can curve spacetime, stretch it, compress it, but not tear a hole in it.

A Frustrated Gamer - 2020-03-12

So basically:

Stay away from black holes.

Jamster - 2017-02-24

I love the fact that every time I remember to look at the subscribers count it has increased many folds =)

Easysquirts 69 - 2019-12-09

Everything was easy to follow, well done on another factual and interesting video.

bucky13 - 2016-12-08

I usually have to watch these videos 4-5 times. I'll start thinking about something you said at the start, then the videos over and I've been thinking about the first minute the whole time.

Richard Frenette - 2019-09-29

I like to say thank you,  most of this stuff is out of my league, buy you have helped me understand the basics. the universe is beautiful, thank you again.
