Funny, innocuous, light-hearted, hazing heckling humour, right? So I wrote up and posted a comment about how Heinz ketchup is a USDA conspiracy to flavour and lubricate dry, bland mass-produced beef down consumers' throats. I ferment urine in an anoxic bottle, forming ammonium from nitrates and urea as the anaerobic bugs do their work. It also breaks apart the large porphyrin rings into nice little organic nitrogen bits. Then I pour it straight onto my grass and corn, and dilute it 1 part urine to 5 parts water for leafy green vegetable seedlings.
The results are spectacular. Popcorn goes from seedling to drying cobs in less than 3 months, I get spinach and leaf lettuce with leaves SIX INCHES in diameter, and my grass is lush dark green.
Mix the urine with wood and bone ash, and you get a HYPER-rich fertilizer for all vegetables.
No, urine contains urea but not nitrate, and decomposition must be done in an aerobic medium so that the oxygen from the air is used by the bacteria to oxidize ammonium into nitrate. This can be done directly in very aerated soil, especially enriched with pulberulent charcoal - it serves as a support for bacteria. In anaerobic environments, ammonium escapes as a gas: this is a well-known problem in agriculture.
It also contains phosphates.
Ash brings potash and phosphates, it is useful for fruiting vegetables but not green vegetables.
@yannduchnock The anaerobic bugs are doing SOMETHING beneficial. Because the stuff can be poured directly onto grass without harming the grass at all. Instead, the yellowish grass turns a dark green within 3 days and grows like wild! The bugs in my bottles may be neutralizing the pH and breaking down the more harsh components. They're a type of purple bacteria.
