I grew up in the Hamptons and I always hated saying that cause people would immediately assume I was rich, I shared a bedroom with my brother in a tiny home from the age of 9 all the way to 19. to see a video to finally represent the actual working residents of the Hamptons a massive refreshment.
Same here, Hampton bays.

It was a relief to see locals still in the Hamptons! You have a pretty place there, very beautiful. It’s a shame the tourists are coming in and out pricing the locals on housing etc. The same is happening here in Sydney. All the best from Australia 🇦🇺
Really a true and informative picture of real locals. Brilliant presentation.
Those young men talking about the native plants being clear cut, and the importance of native biodiversity was amazing! Wish everyone was as passionate about maintaining and restoring native ecosystems!
yes and not being addicted to franchise food...and the value of not letting them take over their beaches and town.. very impressive
He’s right though, people just need educating, I’m sure those young men are just the ones to do it
What an incredible group of young men!!! Wow!!!! The very last thing I was thinking about, in fact I probably didn't even know what it meant, at their age was "biodiversity" I was just a complete selfish idiot at that age!!!! Only cared about having fun!! Luckily, I matured and am nothing like that now😊
So refreshing to hear these positive young men.
Jimmy is the real deal. What a positive, informed down to earth guy. Great tour guide.
This channel constantly reminds me that America is jam packed with an astonishing variety of good, down to earth people. Don't buy the media's incessant negativity-pedaling and don't sit around stupefied on social media, get out and live. Absolutely loved this "Other Side Of Hamptons" video.
This is so so s so CRUCIAL to remember. There is SO MUCH MORE GOOD then evil.
The big money is in the area of Southampton to Amagansett -- old money and massive estates. They're generally not visible from the side streets as they're obscured by huge hedge/shrub lines. The delineating rich/poor roadway is Montauk Highway that runs the entire length of southern Long Island. That said, the comparative poverty adjacent to the "Hamptons" is prevalent. It's not a commercially active environment.
But people are different when cameras aren't filming. Most folks don't want to be preserved for all eternity on film as a total jerk.
What is a good person?
@@twistoffate4791 I feel what you're saying, but most real "jerks" can't really help but show their colors. They only fool the naive.
Nice to see those young men having a good perspective on life, nature and the place they live.
Yep. If they were in California it would be all hate and putting people down and vanity trying to be cool. But they actually seem happy and chill
Yeah. A good perspective won't pay the bills forever in a place like that unless they're pulling down millions. You won't believe how many guys from Southern California and the Hamptons I met in the Philippines the last time I was there. Rent a place with some other surf heads for pennies on tbr dollar. The dream is still alive but it's awfully hard to make it work here. Even the old guy has his life ripped out from under him and he's seemingly asking for more. It's time to get serious. Stop voting for the status quo. Only outsiders will change anything. Look at El Salvador. They decided crime was a choice and chose against it. Argentinians decided they'd have enough of hyperinflation. What are guys like this going to chose?
@@RT804Argentina very much on the brink of collapse with their new president. But if you’re arguing for someone like Bernie Sanders to come in and give the middle class a chance again, instead of our whole economy being geared towards making billionaires richer, I think you have a decent point.
@@RT804Probably never bother to vote.

I couldn’t help but smile at knowing there are still men in their young 20’s truly enjoying and living their best lives. Thank you for being beautiful, genuine young men. I can’t wait to share this video with him.

At a local Long Islander it is great to see content putting a spotlight on the rich culture here and not the ultra rich. Great work!

And he and I are about the same age. Total respect for commercial fisherman.
It is funny but not the logic of the people who do so.
@faganquin6483 The point the guys were making was those people drive a Tesla but spread toxic chemicals on their lawns that run into the ocean!
I adored that. Seriously they know. That is the way it is. Classic.
I’m a 61 yr old and I hate to admit that I’m guilty of saying all young people don’t want to work and their disrespectful and have no ambition. Well…..those young men just made me have to eat those words! They really put a smile on my face, and gave me hope for the younger generation.

Peter Santenello! For those of us ,who love the United States, you have taken us to places most people dont have an opportunity to visit! MANY THANKS!
I love how he said,
"As long as I still reading my books."
Read and book are the important two words I appreciate! You don't hear them a lot anymore....
You’re in the wrong bubble then bro
That’s because they’re New Yorkers
I’d like to expand on that. Long Islanders always made sure to pay into their school districts no matter their town’s economic class levels and they stocked their public libraries with plenty of books. It just became part of the culture as in much of the Northeast so even during the long cold winter season when you’re locked inside you have books to read either inside your home or at your public library. I was fortunate to grow up less than an acre away from the public library in my town and spent most of days there in cold winter and sweltering summers.
Jimmy is an absolute treat. A true character.

So much wisdom in those young men.

They do it to save on gas not for the environment. Sounds like brokies mad about other people doing good in life
Driving a Tesla means you didn’t realize the environmental impact of mining for all that garbage in your vehicle killed a rainforest. Stick to ice
I think you’re missing the point- Teslas are part of the EV movement , I care about the environment so I’m driving an EV attitude - that’s what these wise young men are speaking to. The Green Deal, climate change BS hoax!!
East Hampton local here, this was a wonderful video! Growing up here, the locals here are so nice, and are genuine unlike some of the “typical” Hamptonites that come here to live lavish, or are celebs and whatnot. Would also like to wish we had more people like Kevin and his group, so pure. Regardless, thanks for showing this side of this community. You should come out here during the Winter actually, a lot more locals than whoever is coming from the outside.
*edit: the Winter might be a little dead, but that’s really the only time you can get by without all the extra people on the road or in towns. Fall or Spring might be better.
Jimmy is THE BEST !!!!!! Those young men were incredibly well spoken, you could feel their sense of loyalty and pride for the Hamptons as well as their passion for sustaining the environment in which seems to be becoming compromised from over building and the toxins, chemicals being used to do so. It's so refreshing and encouraging to see young men with a healthy mind , heart and soul.
Not to take anything away from the young guys as I enjoyed them n their enthusiasm and sense of community and sense of commeraderie but while I agree they sounded n certainly looked better than majority of young men n women today they are not exactly well spoken n articulate. It was simply refreshing to see confidence, humor n ability to interact with adults without having to hold Mommys hand or have their phone out,ear pods in n hoodie covering their head as a security blanket n having to engage with them by drawing every answer out of them just to try to teach them how to have a conversation. Also no likes, and honestly n literally thrown in. Reminds me of the men when I was young. I'm in 50's now.

Absolutely! Thoroughly enjoyed this journey. The locals seem so cool and friendly. I grew up on the East Coast of Canada so see a lot of similarities in terms of the people, the landscape, the history, etc. I also lived on the West Coast of British Columbia where surfing is popular. Sure miss the ocean a lot. I visited Cape May and Cape Cod when I was young but never made it to Long Island which is beautiful. (I did meet two brothers (who were amateur musicians from there) way back in the seventies) I am learning so much from these snapshots / stories from the heart and soul of America. God Bless You all in these crazy times.

I'm from Southold born in Greenport hospital 71 years ago. I partied in the Hamptons when fun was still legal. Remember when Cream played at the CAVE? The YOUNG Rascals at the Barge. This dude just moved out to the hamptons one day at like 22 to become a surfer and fisherman. that kinda freedom doesn't exist anymore.
Yes and no but it can't be argued that we've become a nanny state full of dependents and micro managers. It used to be totally normal for people to hitch hike and stop and camp alongside the road where ever they pleased. There are still wild places left but I'm as guilty as most of not going to them. I'm actually more troubled at few people even strive for freedom and independence. I wish I could find some more younger people to join me in my antics. My older friends 50s and 60s defiantly have a better outlook on life.
The rich want there fresh seafood so over there fishing still works. The rest of us can barely afford frozen farm raised crap.
I do think more of the younger people are dependent on someone else these days, but i think that is mainly a consequence of lack of social mobility and everything being so unaffordable
I mean you kinda can. Go be a coal miner or North sea fisher and you can make what the standard minimum wage worker makes in a year in a few months. You know assuming you dont die in an accident and can actually find work. Aint no way for any of us to have it as good, easy, and safe as silent-gen X though.
Still can, just have to come here illegally and not be a citizen.
