Dr Stuart Thickett (University of Tasmania) demonstrates the emulsion polymerization of styrene to form polymer nanoparticles. 100 Reactions for RACI100 is a project launched by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI) in celebration of the Institute's centenary (RACI100) in 2017. The series of videos aims to spark an interest and inspire enthusiasm in chemistry - a scientific discipline that plays a vital part in every aspect of our lives. Can one make polymer particles up to a mm with this technique?
sir, this video is informative and helpfull
can u please send the pdf of the whole process
Hi sir
@thapparr maro system koO ali what's your problem
how do you go from the emulsified product to the solid. just evaporate off the solvent or destabilize the emulsion colloids ?
Did you get the answer? After polymerization, evaporation and then drying process is logical to obtain dry form?
Cool thank you!
Thanks , how can I Add 2 or 3 monomers ?
Sir ur number pls
Im trying to make poly acrylic acid emulsion. Can I know detailed ratio of materials and is this procedure can be applied to acrylic acid?

many thanks for this explanation sir, but how did you dried the emulsion and got the solid polymer? and can you explain the ratio of monomer and initiator? I hope to get the answer. Many thanks sir
