GRS
GRS (lit: „Großes Rundsuchradar“) is an early “en-route-radar” of the German air traffic management.
Telefunken got a development and production contract. The development lasted from 1955–1958, the installation at the 3 selected sites near hannover, Frankfurt and Munich followed in the years 1960 to 1962. The Radar video was transmitted via a radio link from the radar site to the ATC-installations at the nearest airport up to a maximum distance of 30km.
