AN/PPS-4
AN/PPS-4 is an I-Band, lightweight, portable radar designed for battlefield surveillance. The radar set is capable of detecting and locating, under conditions of poor visibility, military targets such as personnel and vehicles moving in the presence of ground clutter. It detects a man walking at 1 mph up to 1,500 m, and a vehicle (such as 2- 1/2 ton truck) moving at 15 mph up to 8,000 m. The radar set is 24 vdc battery operated.
The radar is mounted on a tripod and can be manually moved in the direction to be observed. The swivel range of the tripod ranges from -45° to +20° in elevation, 360° in azimuth. The targets are acoustically marked using a headphone.
