AN/TPS-2

The AN/TPS-2 (former: SCR-602-T7) is a 2D lightweight medium range early warning radar. It was transportable by aircraft, jeep, or pack and could easily erected and simple to operate. AN/TPS-2 could detect a bomber at 100 km in an altitude of 10 000 ft.

The AN/TPS-2 used an antenna consisting of a group of 16 dipoles in front of a common flat reflector. The transmitter operated at nearly 400 megacycles (75 cm wavelength).

An/TPS-2 was introduced into service in the Pacific in 1944, and inactivated in 1949. This radar is a copy of a British radar and was originally known as SW (CXCA). In the Royal Airforce was used the designation Type 62.
