RAN 3L
The RAN 3L alias MM/SPS-768 (MM stands for Marina Militare, a nomenclature for the Italian Navy, similar to the US-Army/Navy's nomenclature AN/…) was an operating in L-Band early warning radar, that was installed on the destroyers and aircraft carriers of the Italian Navy.
The system consists of a fully coherent transmitter/receiver chain and a digital processor incorporating a composite coded waveform. It is fully solid-state except for the final radio frequency power amplifier. An identification friend-or-foe antenna with interrogation sidelobe suppression can be mounted on the reflector.
The radar have been replaced by the Selex RAN-40L 3D air search long-range radar.
