LIROD

The LIROD (LIghtweight Radar/Optronic Director) is an operating in K-Band radar/electro-optic fire-control and surveillance system. Its stealth target detection capabilities support ship defense and operation in littoral environments.

The antenna array is an elliptical paraboloid (1 m high · 0.4 m wide) with monopulse cluster which offers excellent low-level target performance because of its narrow elevation beam, and at the same time provides easy acquisition with its wider azimuth beam. The transmitter is a Traveling Wave Tube type.

LIROD was produced since 1981. Since 1991 a major update has taken place with the Mk 2 version, which is currently in production by Thales company.
