Seaspray 5000E

The Seaspray 5000E is an Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) multi-mode surveillance radar. It uses a combination of mechanical scanning of the antenna with electronic scanning of the radar beam to provide a cost-effective radar system and is suitable for a range of capabilities from long-range search to exceptional small target detection.

The design uses a lightweight active electronically scanned array derived from the company's PicoSAR system, plus the same common processor as is used in larger Seaspray models. It can deliver synthetic aperture radar and inverse SAR images, plus air-to-air and ground moving target indication data.

The Seaspray 5000E weighs less than 45 kg (99 lb) and can be installed in both fixed-wing and rotary wing platforms. It consists of only two units: the Antenna (Dimensions: 430·280·140 mm), and the Processor (Dimensions: 500·260·210 mm). Seaspray 5000E has already been delivered to customer for SAR operations on Challenger aircraft, and it is in service on the Sikorsky S-92 SAR helicopter. CL-604 Challenger was modified by Cobham with SeaSpray 5000E radar, as well as Brazilian Air Force P-95BM aircraft. The larger Seaspray 7500E is in service on SAR duties with the US Coast Guard’s fleet of C-130 long-range maritime patrol aircraft.
