AN/SPY-3
The AN/SPY-3 or MFR (stands for Multi-Function Radar) is an X-Band active phased array radar designed to meet all horizon search and fire control requirements for the 21st-century fleet. It is a multi-functional radar based on advanced Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technology without any rotating antenna parts and combines the functions of up to five radars and ten antennas. It covers 360 degrees in azimuth by using of 3 faces.
The primary mission of the AN/SPY-3 is to support ship self-defense. It is designed to detect the most advanced low-observable anti-ship cruise missile (ASCM) threats and support fire-control illumination requirements for existing and future standardized defence missiles.
