Depending on required vividness you can vote between a variety of graphic possibilities for the representation of functions and dependences.

At the Cartesian coordinate systems the axes are right-angled to each other. The function y= f(x) is represented best in a two-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system. As an example you can see in the figure an antenna diagram in a Cartesian coordinate system.

But just for antenna diagrams the representation is better in a coordinate system with polar coordinates. A point in the diagram is defined with giving of an angle and a distance. That means, this diagram is place obtained because the details only apply to the center. (The same point lies in a completely different direction and distance, looking by another location!)
